Making a Floral Wreath for Spring

In anticipation of sunny, spring weather, I decided to make a new wreath for the front door.  I just love wreath making as I find it to be fairly simple.  Plus I just think it makes such a wonderful welcome when people are walking up to the house.

I made this wreath in preparation for the Welcome Spring link party I am co-host; I hope you click here to check it out and join us! Any and all spring themed posts are welcome.

I typically purchase a grapevine wreath, some faux flowers, and ribbon... this year I found an old grapevine wreath and a few flowers in my stash so I only had to purchase a few more flowers and some ribbon.

We have a dark blue door and our welcome mat this year had shades of light blue, dark blue and green so I used that as my color pallet.

I began by breaking off flowers and leaves from the bunches and tucking them into the grapevine wreath where I thought I might like them.

I tend to work in clumps and clusters and will not glue anything down until I like the way the entire wreath looks.

Once I have everything where I'd like it, I plug in the hot glue gun and work my way slowly from one flower to the other gluing everything in place.  Then finish off the wreath with a pretty bow and some ribbon.

For once, I had lots of flowers left over but I'd rather buy too many flowers than not have enough.  Don't worry, I can use those flowers somewhere else inside the house.   They won't go to waste!

It was quite a transformation and I just love how it looks!

    1. Thank you! I find as long as you don't glue anything down until you like how it looks you can always change it around.
