Crock Pot Turkey Breast

My boys have never been big fans of turkey and while we serve it at Thanksgiving and, even occasionally, at Christmas I usually have a ton of leftover meat that no one really wants to eat.

A few months ago I saw a turkey breast on sale at the store and decided to try cooking just the white meat up for my family.  I fully expected the boys to grumble; but they didn't!

In fact they liked it so much I have now made it two more times because they asked me to!

Since the turkey breasts are smaller than a full bird I am able to fit the breast in my large crock pot and with just a few seasonings and slow cooking the meat all day we have found this "new way" of cooking the turkey leading to a more flavorful and juicy bird.

I'm pretty sure this is what I'll be doing for Thanksgiving this year too!

For this recipe you will need:

Turkey breast
crock pot
Rosemary leaves
garlic salt
celery salt
seasoned salt

(if you'd like a lower sodium version celery flakes and garlic powder can be used instead).

I placed the turkey in the crock pot and sprinkled it liberally with all the seasonings.

I set the crock pot on low and left it undisturbed with the lid on for approximately 8 hours.

Once the meat was fully cooked and the bird was lightly browned, I lifted it out of the crock pot and placed it on a platter for slicing.  The electric knife made short work of carving up the bird so it was hot and ready to serve in just minutes.

For dinner we served the turkey with sweet potato fries and peas.

The turkey was so flavorful and tender.
