Art Project #9: Fingerprint Dandelions

We had such a fun time with our quick and easy fingerprint Dandelions painting yesterday.  I'm finding as we do more and more art projects for our 100 Days of Art challenge that our biggest challenge is finding something my boys want to do!

I have learned that they prefer quick and easy crafts... like this one.

We looked up a few different versions on Pinterest and then dove into our project.

The boys started by picking what color paper they wanted to use and then used a thumbprint to make a dark brown center for their dandelion.

We used a paintbrush to add a stem and a small portion of leaves beneath each dark brown center; I showed the boys how they could add grass to their pictures too if they'd like but Alec was the only one who took me up on that offer.

We then set aside our papers to dry.

Once the background was all dry we used white finger paint and our pinkies to make small dots all around in a circle near our brown centers; even going over them.  I showed them how they could make it look like the dandelion was starting to break away from the flower and Alec even added a few wisps of dandelion to his grass.

My sample

Evan's LARGE flower

Alec's set of flowers (see the wisps in the grass?)

We set our paintings aside to dry a second time.

To finish off our paintings we used a fine line sharpie to draw little stems on each of our dandelion wisps.

Aren't they adorable?
