The Books I Read in December

There is nothing I like better than curling up with a good book in front of the fire when the cold wind is blowing outside.  Here are some of the books I read this month.

1.  The Right Thing by Amy Conner- When Anne runs into a childhood friend that needs her help she is forced to confront choices she has made all her life.  While Anne tries to do the right thing; her actions often lead to disappointing those all around her which leaves Anne feeling like she did the wrong thing.

2. Hardcore Twenty- Four by Janet Evanovich-- Stephanie Plum is back in another fun filled action packed novel. When it seems like Zombies are overrunning her hometown and Diesel turns up Stephanie, once again, realizes she's in over her head... but at least she still has hers as many bodies are turning up headless with their brains missing.  Will Stephanie, Ranger, Morelli and Diesel figure out who is behind the attacks before it's too late?

3.  Those Secrets We Keep by Emily Liebert-- When Sloane drops her daughter off at sleep away camp she is left feeling listless and suffocated by her life.  She decides to escape to Lake George for three weeks with her two closest friends Hilary and Georgina.  As tensions mount and summer comes to a close they can't help but reveal their innermost secrets making it a summer none of them will ever forget.

4.  Behind Closed Doors by B. A. Paris-- Jack and Grace seem like the perfect couple; he's a high profile lawyer who defends battered women and she is the perfect homemaker with a tiny little waist, delicious and complicated recipes, and the most beautiful home.  But by the end of the first chapter the reader knows something more is going on with these newlyweds.  As their story unwinds we learn more about how Grace and Jack met, married, and came to be and also about who they really are when no one else is looking.

5.  Winter Solstice by Elin Hilderbrand-- I was so thrilled to see this book on our library shelf.  My list of books I read last December include the first three books in this Winter Street Series and I was thrilled to pick up with Kelly, his wife Mitzi, their children.  Ava has moved to New York City to be near her mother and new boyfriend.  Kevin and his wife are enjoying their new baby and the success of their new business.  Patrick is recently returned from prison and his wife Jennifer has managed to stay off the pills ever since his return.  Bart is suffering from PTSD after his capture in Afghanistan and while he's happy to be home all three children are dismayed to learn that Kelly is dying.  His brain cancer is growing at a rapid rate and fearing the worse Mitzi plans a huge birthday party for Bart on Halloween afraid that Kelly won't be around for their annual Christmas party.

6.  A Snow Country Christmas by Linda Lael Miller-- When Raine accepts a last minute dinner meeting with Mick she's getting far more than she bargained for.  I'm pretty sure you can tell from the cover that his a cute little love story.  Raine is a country girl at heart with a lot of artistic talent and Mick is a hot shot movie producer; on the surface it seems like they have nothing in common.  The more they get to know each other, however, they begin to realize they just might be made for each other.
