$5 Science Museum Trip

We took a trip to our local science museum yesterday.  It felt like it had been weeks since we had last left the house and we needed to get out and do something; but I didn't want to spent a lot of money on anything either.  The boys suggested our local science museum, knowing we were members and we'd only have to pay to park I agreed.

They did a bit of schoolwork, packed their lunches, and we were off.

We had a great day!

And believe it or not I really didn't take all that many pictures at all!  We were there for over three hours and I mostly just concentrated on joining in with the boys and having fun.

We started with the travelling display of Leonardo
Da Vinci's Machines In Motion

He has so many neat inventions using gears,
pulleys, levers, and more.

We headed into the music room and found a laser harp!

Watched the beads dance to the vibrations

Recorded music while watching a visual representation of it
Evan checked out how blubber works

The boys tried to build another dam (this one kept most of the water back)

"Playing" wit the snakes

We took a quick break from playing to watch a fun cartoon movie about global climate change and then went to have some lunch.  The boys had so much fun sitting in back of the glass elevator doors and watching the elevator move up and down; figuring out how it works.

Using robotics to shoot a ball into the target holes
Using air current to direct the ball's movements

Using the sound studio to record a jingle

Racing cars using different weights

Playing the laser harp again

They really loved watching the beads jump and dance

This was Leonardo Da Vinci's invention of an armored tank

Seeing who could relax their brain waves and move the ball

Brain teasers!

Learning about space; I loved this display!  They had soup cans labeled
with the different planet names and when you picked each can up
you could compare what a can of soup would weigh on each of the planets!

Learning about nebula
No one wanted to leave when it was time to go and there really was a lot more we did not get around to seeing but I promised the boys we'd go back again another day.
